Formed in June 2002, the International Society of Obstetric Medicine (ISOM) brings together the diverse range of clinicians and researchers with an interest in the care of pregnant women with underlying medical disorders. We recognize that access to skilled obstetric medicine clinicians varies markedly in different areas of the world and we hope to support a broader propagation of experts in our field.
The focus of ISOM is to promote, through research and education, excellence in the care of medical illness in pregnancy. Through this society they hope to facilitate dissemination of knowledge in this field and enhance the care of pregnant women and their babies globally.
They welcome physicians, obstetricians, medical sub-specialists, maternal fetal medicine doctors, anaesthesiologists, researchers, nurses and nurse midwives and clinicians of all types to their society. Their only requirement for membership is a passion for improving the care of patients whose pregnancies are complicated by medical illness.
The Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ) was formed in 2004 after the amalgamation of ASSHP (Australasian Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy) and OMGA (the Obstetric Medicine Group of Australasia).
SOMANZ aims to advance clinical and scientific knowledge of hypertensive diseases and medical disorders in pregnancy and to foster collaboration with other regional and international societies interested in hypertension in pregnancy and obstetric medicine.
Membership of SOMANZ is open to any person who is engaged in research or in practice of the broad field of hypertension in pregnancy or obstetric medicine, or who has demonstrated particular interest in this area.
The International Society of Obstetric Medicine (ISOM) holds their International Scientific Meeting, in conjunction with the scientific meeting of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP) Meetings.
The ISSHP Congress will take follow on 3-6 October 2010.
Members are encouraged to register for both the ISOM and ISSHP 2010 Congress.
Membership of ISOM or ISSHP will be accepted for member registration rates at ISOM and also at ISSHP 2010.
